Ned Levitt is ranked as a “Senior Statesman” for Franchising – Nationwide. Mr. Levitt is a Partner in the firm’s Toronto office. He is one of Canada’s leading authorities in franchising and distribution law. He has represented some of the world’s foremost franchises, and provides legal services to Canadian and international clients on all aspects of Canadian franchise law. As a member of the Ontario Franchise Sector Working Team, he was instrumental in the creation of Ontario’s franchise legislation and has had significant input in the franchise legislative process throughout Canada. Mr. Levitt is a prolific writer, having published numerous books, papers and articles on franchise and distribution law and he is a noted lecturer having spoken on franchising and distribution matters at programs conducted by various organizations. He is often quoted in the media and has appeared on several television programs including CTV’s W5, CBC’s Venture, CHCH TV’s Let’s Talk…Franchising, Channel 47’s Business Insight, and Report on Business TV. He is a member of the Canadian Franchise Association, the International Franchise Association, the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising, and the International Bar Association. He is recognized as a leader in his field by several publications including Best Lawyers in Canada, Who’s Who Legal, Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, and Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Levitt received his B.A. from York University and his J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School.
Michael Lipton, Q.C. is ranked as a “Senior Statesman” for Gaming & Licensing – Nationwide. Mr. Lipton is a Senior Partner in the firm’s Toronto office and heads the Canadian gaming law group. For over 25 years, he has served as senior counsel on several complex gaming law matters including advising on Requests for Proposals from governments to operate commercial and charitable casinos and advising applicants who seek registration with the gaming regulatory authorities throughout North America. He regularly represents and counsels gaming equipment suppliers, institutional investors, governments, racetracks, casinos, First Nations and pari-mutuel operators in all areas of gaming law from both a land-based and Internet perspective. He has presented numerous papers on the various aspects of gaming law at international legal conferences and his gaming law articles have been published on a global basis including the Canadian chapter of the Internet Gaming Report. He is a member of the editorial board of Online Gambling Lawyer and the founding editor of Canadian Gaming Lawyer. Mr. Lipton’s vast expertise and knowledge in gaming law have been recognized by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in Canada and by Chambers Global Guide from 2008 to 2018.
