Dickinson Wright is pleased to announce that Jessica Bartlett has rejoined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as Of Counsel.
Jessica has returned to the firm’s Political Law practice group, where she will help oversee the day-to-day management of the group’s support for clients. She advises members of Congress, candidates, political committees, corporations, nonprofits, and donors on all matters related to participation in the political process. This includes compliance with state and federal campaign finance and election laws, tax laws, lobbying laws, the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), pay-to-play laws, and First Amendment and defamation litigation.
“Jessica is one of the top legal practitioners working in Republican politics today, and we’re fortunate to have her back at Dickinson Wright,” said Charlie Spies, Member and leader of the firm’s Political Law practice group. “Clients appreciate her ability to identify creative solutions, which has made her a trusted counselor to non-profit organizations, corporations, elected officials, and candidates.”
Jessica provides strategic guidance on rules governing gift and ethics compliance, personal financial disclosure reporting, and conflicts of interest; forming and advising nonprofit corporations, including section 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), 501(c)(6) and 501(c)(7) tax-exempt organizations, candidate committees, political action committees (PACs), and Joint Fundraising Committees.
Most recently, Jessica was General Counsel to Ron DeSantis for President. In that role, she served as the campaign’s chief legal officer, responsible for the campaign’s legal strategy, regulatory compliance, ballot access efforts, financial reporting, and other duties as part of the campaign’s senior staff team. Her political campaign experience also includes roles with Mitt Romney’s campaign for U.S. Senate in 2018, the Congressional Leadership Fund, and Right to Rise USA, the Super PAC that supported Jeb Bush’s bid for the presidency in 2016.
Jessica received her B.A. from the University of Mississippi and her J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law.
