Mr. Hurles specializes in all aspects of patent prosecution including patentability opinions, patent preparation, responses to office actions, appeals, etc. He is especially proficient in a range of automotive technologies with extensive experience in the following technologies: braking systems, lighting systems, HVAC systems, steering systems, chassis systems, suspension systems, fuel systems, four wheel drive systems, all-wheel drive systems, brake pads, ball joints magnethorheological dampers, fuel pumps, pistons, piston rings, gaskets, wiper blades, bushings, bearings, tie rods, torque arms, hydraulic seals, quick connectors, seat track mechanisms, seat recline mechanisms, heat exchangers, and door lock mechanisms. He also has significant experience prosecuting patents in a number of non-automotive technologies, including: dental implants, dental instruments, pontoon boats, PEX tubing, food products, home security systems, personal safety devices, heat pumps, vane pumps and firearms. Mr. Hurles also has of experience in all aspects of offensive and defensive infringement investigations including drafting infringement and clearance opinion letters.
Mr. Hurles also has experience supporting patent litigation in both the Eastern District of Michigan and the International Trade Commission (ITC) from both the positions of Complainant and Respondent.
