Scott McBain is a member of Dickinson Wright’s Intellectual Property practice group. He concentrates his practice on domestic and international IP procurement and IP counseling, transactions, and strategies for the protection and enforcement of IP assets. Scott has been an IP attorney for over 30 years, doing significant licensing work alongside other complex technology transfers, including IP due diligence and merger, acquisition, divestiture, and IP support. As a former in-house attorney at a Tier One auto supplier, Scott managed and supported the domestic and international IP portfolios of several multi-billion dollar business units in a variety of automotive technologies. Scott gained valuable technical experience as an engineer -starting his career supporting power plants in southern Ohio, West Virginia, and eastern Kentucky, designing and implementing their material handling systems. Scott is listed in Best Lawyers in America 2024 for his work in Patent Law.

- Advocated for the U.S. intellectual property rights of a multi-billion dollar American branch of a French automotive supplier, focusing on their comfort and driving assistance (CDA) technology group, particularly LiDAR and camera-based vehicle maneuvering systems.
