Rocio advises clients on technology transactions, data privacy, and cybersecurity matters. She helps clients structure and negotiate complex technology commercial agreements, including SaaS, software licensing, cloud services, and data licensing agreements. Rocio counsels a variety of clients, from start-ups to Fortune 100 clients, across various industries, with a special focus on advising clients in the technology, retail, and digital health industries on data privacy and security issues, cybersecurity matters, technology and data commercialization strategy and agreements, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and product counseling needs, ensuring compliance while enabling growth and innovation.
Before joining Dickinson Wright, Rocio served as in-house counsel for a rapidly growing startup that was later acquired by a Fortune 50 technology company. At the start-up, she supported the global sales team in negotiating customer software licenses and SaaS agreements while contributing to venture capital funding efforts and post-acquisition integration processes. Her in-house experience gives her a unique understanding of the legal and operational challenges technology companies face, allowing her to offer practical and business-focused legal advice.

Rocio represents clients in domestic and international transactions involving significant technology and intellectual property components. Rocio has experience supporting healthcare vendors as well as buyers in navigating complex technology, intellectual property, and service agreements within the highly regulated healthcare sector. These transactions require understanding of the intersection of technology, data, and privacy implications within this regulated space as well as telehealth implications. She has advised many telehealth companies using AI related to emerging laws in this space.
