Lucius L. Lockwood

Lucius Lockwood assists clients with securing and enforcing intellectual property (IP) rights. His practice includes patent prosecution, licensing, IP due diligence and litigation support. Lucius also negotiates and drafts license agreements for patent, copyright, trademark and software development activities, and has represented clients in patent litigation matters.

Lucius’s IP experience covers a broad range of diverse technology areas such as software, consumer products, electronic and avionic systems, telecommunications, semiconductors, encryption, missile systems, musical instruments, medical devices, high-performance engine components, financial fraud detection systems, wireless communication protocols and satellite systems. Preceding his law career, Lucius served as a principal engineer for Motorola Network Solutions Sector where his engineering experience included creating high-performance multichip modules, developing embedded and application-level software, designing digital communication hardware for the Space Station and modeling complex digital system interactions. While at Motorola he also worked in the Intellectual Property Management Department where he analyzed Motorola’s patent portfolio to determine domestic and foreign filing strategy, managed the company’s patent committee and inventor incentive program, assisted in patent prosecution, coordinated with inventors to identify intellectual property rights in Motorola products and conducted intellectual property training classes at Motorola University.

Lucius has conducted several patent education seminars for clients, lawyers and the public. He is also the author of several articles which have appeared in various IP publications.
