Alfred D. Carry

Alfred Carry is a litigation attorney in Dickinson Wright’s Washington D.C. office, where he defends individual and institutional clients in high-stakes litigation and investigations. He provides counsel on private-company internal investigations, congressional and federal grand jury testimony, and highly publicized prosecutions initiated by the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Offices, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other enforcement agencies. Alfred has also represented clients in internationally prominent cases, including those under the Foreign Agent Registrations Act (FARA) and related criminal statutes. Notably, he gained widespread attention for his role as lead co-counsel representing Russian national Maria Butina.

In his complex civil litigation practice, Alfred has defended clients in a variety of cases, including breach of contract disputes, construction defect cases, defamation actions, and allegations of fraud. He is experienced in handling qui tam claims under the False Claims Act (FCA), consumer class action claims, and federal securities law violations.

Alfred’s approach to his work is driven by an inveterate curiosity, which enhances his writing, research, and analytical skills. He views cases and research as puzzles to be solved and strives to be the most knowledgeable person on each case, whether at the trial or appellate level, especially when dealing with novel or complex issues. By distilling intricate issues into clear, rational, and relatable structures, Alfred practices law in an exceptionally efficient and reliable manner. His effectiveness is reflected in the successful outcomes he achieves both in and out of the courtroom.
