Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce that Michael N. Spink, a member partner in the Ann Arbor office, has been named to the 2020 IAM Strategy 300 – The World’s Leading IP Strategists. The annual guide, published by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) magazine, identifies globally recognized creators of IP value. It is the fifth time Spink has been named to this list; prior appearances include 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) focuses on the many ways in which intellectual property and intangible assets can be used to create corporate value. The IAM Strategy 300 identifies attorneys, consultants, financiers and others whose primary expertise helps IP owners maximize the value of their IP portfolios. Only those individuals, who are nominated multiple times by different parties, are listed as outstanding IP strategists.
Spink has managed intellectual assets of large and small clients based all over the world, responsible for the procurement and protection of patent and trademark portfolios, auditing and protecting trade secrets, setting corporate policy, and providing IP analytics. He has significant experience in licensing and intellectual asset management and provides advanced data analytics, asset mapping and portfolio analysis to leverage business assets. In addition to patent counselling and procurement, Spink also conducts a full trademark practice, including appearances before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Spink, a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP), co-chaired the Michigan chapter of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) from 2014–2019 and served on the Intellectual Property Owners Association–Management Committee from 2014–2015. He is also a member of the American Bar Association–Intellectual Property Section and the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
