Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce that Attorneys Jeff Craven and Michael de León Hawthorne have joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. office as Members.
“Jeff and Michael are outstanding additions to our corporate and securities practice in Washington, D.C.,” said William T. Burgess, CEO of Dickinson Wright. “Each has an extensive track record of excellence in client service, a wealth of knowledge in corporate, securities and regulatory matters, and experience across many important industry segments. Jeff Craven advises business leaders on corporate structuring, the formation and financing of domestic and international transactions, FCC licensing and regulatory matters, and government contracting. He has extensive experience in the technology, telecom, satellite, and energy sectors and regularly advises on transactions that contribute to his clients’ growth, including private equity, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and technology licensing.
Mr. Craven is a member of the District of Columbia Bar as well as the Federal Communications Bar Association and serves on the Board of Trustees for Georgetown University’s George F. Baker Trust and the LeTendre Education Fund for Homeless Children. He is recognized as a leader in his field by Washington D.C. Super Lawyers and Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Craven received his A.B. from Georgetown University and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Michael de León Hawthorne assists public and private companies in implementing corporate structures that allow them to grow their business organically through capital formation, M&A, and joint venturing with potential business partners. He advises startups and companies preparing for public or private offerings, ensuring these companies are structured properly in all stages of their development. His clients are involved in a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, telecommunications, distribution, natural resources, health care, energy, restaurant, and technology. He also represents many family-owned businesses and works collaboratively with their advisors to provide cross-disciplinary approaches that address issues that are unique to these clients, such as succession planning, trusts and estate preparation, and balancing the needs of multiple generations.
Mr. Hawthorne is the past Chair and President of the International Association of Attorneys for Family-Held Enterprises, Inc. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar. He is recognized as a leader in his field by Best Lawyers in America, Washington D.C. Super Lawyers and Martindale-Hubbell. Mr. Hawthorne received his B.S. from Denison University and his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin.
