Gaming Attorney Greg Gemignani was recently quoted in the article “Pondering how to deal with ‘weed’” published by Gaming Today.
The article addresses the challenges facing Nevada as the gaming industry considers how to incorporate recreational marijuana (legalized by Nevada voters in 2016) into the adult entertainment landscape while at the same time acknowledging its classification as an illegal Schedule One drug.
Without further guidance from the federal government regarding states’ rights related to marijuana, the risk of enforcement of federal marijuana prohibition and prosecution by the U.S. Department of Justice cannot be minimized. As Mr. Gemignani noted in the article, “Anything to do with drugs and gambling has always been a low-hanging fruit for a lot of prosecutors.” To read the full article, please click here.
