He regularly counsels businesses and business owners on the design and implementation of tax-efficient strategies that help achieve a variety of goals, including strategies for forming and structuring the business and its operations; implementing key employee incentives to attract, retain, and reward top talent; and planning for exiting the business. He assists clients on formation and structuring issues including advising on the tax implications of choice of entity, ownership structure, and restructuring in anticipation of ownership changes. Erick also helps business owners plan for and implement a variety of strategies, including sales to strategic or financial buyers, management buyouts, and transition of the business through gifting. He is Chair of the 2023 Annual Tax Conference for the State Bar of Michigan’s Tax Section and is a member of the American Bar Association’s Tax Section. He serves as a Board Member and Awards Committee Chair for Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars.
