Dickinson Wright PLLC is pleased to announce the appointment of John Desmond and Scott Knapp as Co-Division Directors for the firm’s Litigation practice.
John P. Desmond is a member in the firm’s Reno office. He focuses his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and appellate work. He regularly represents and counsels clients in commercial and business litigation matters involving contract disputes, buy/sell agreements and disputes over intellectual property. His representation of clients includes a significant number of matters before the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is recognized as a leader in his field by Chambers, Best Lawyers of America, and Mountain State Super Lawyers. Mr. Desmond is active in the community, having served as the Chair of the University of Nevada Foundation Board of Trustees in 2019. He also serves as a member of the Nevada Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission and as a Board Member of Washoe Legal Services.
Scott R. Knapp is a member in the firm’s Lansing office. He focuses his litigation practice in the areas of insurance, class action, and general commercial and business litigation. He has successfully defended insurance clients in putative national class actions involving fraud and breach of contract. He has also represented Fortune 500 companies in trademark infringement, breach of fiduciary duty and non-compete matters. He is recognized as a leader in his field by Best Lawyers in America and Michigan Super Lawyers. Mr. Knapp received his B.A. from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from Temple University.
