Myles Baker was recently quoted in the Crain’s Detroit Business article, “Tootsie Roll threatens Michigan cannabis company over edible ‘dots,’” elaborating on the expansive increase in copyright infringement suits against cannabis companies throughout Michigan. Myles explains, “Trademark infringement is rampant in the industry because cannabis brands struggle for market share and branding.” In addition, Myles highlights the influence familiar brand names have on companies in the cannabis industry, stating, “ Marketing is king in a lot of these spaces so these brands are putting out a product they hope separates itself on the shelf because it relates to another brand you’re familiar with.” To read the article, click here.
